Center for Rheumatology & Neurological Testing
The capability of thoroughly evaluating patients in the broad field of Rheumatology. This includes the medical management of general musculoskeletal conditions causing joint pains, such as arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis and spinal conditions. The specific conditions evaluated and treated include Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and other Connective Tissue Disorders.
Diagnostic Digital X-Ray Imaging. X-ray evaluation of all the peripheral joints and the spine are available on site.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSKUS) for diagnostic purposes. All diagnostic MSKUS are personally performed and interpreted by Dr. Nitsche in our office. MSKUS is a cost-effective safe modality, without radiation exposure, that is used for evaluating joint problems, such as joint pain, joint swelling, arthritis, bursitis, and tendonitis. The areas that can be evaluated include the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hand, knees, ankles, and feet. Diagnostic ultrasounds of joints are presently re-imbursed by Medicare and almost all third party insurance payers.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSKUS) for interventional procedures. Aspiration and injection of joints under ultrasound guidance has been proven to be a safer, less painful, and a more accurate technique than unguided procedures. Ultrasound results are available immediately, and therefore a problem requiring injection therapy can usually be treated during the same office visit.
Nerve Conduction Studies. Diagnostic testing and evaluations of the hand and arm for neurological disorders are provided by Dr. Fleming. These evaluations include Nerve Conduction Studies or NCS and other types of neurological tests. Our board certified neurologist, with over 25 years of experience is available by appointment when such testing or studies are required.
Osteoporosis evaluation and treatment. A Bone Mineral Density (BMD) machine is on site.
Dr. Nitsche personally interprets the BMD and can recommend treatment as indicated.
